Rotisserie Burner and Sear Zone Care
Two burners on a Wolf outdoor grill get their own cards here: the infrared rotisserie burner on the rear panel and the infrared sear burner beneath a grate section. The knobs and your use and care guide show which of them yours has. These cards deal with keeping them working, not with cooking on them.

Rotisserie ready to run
- Seat the motor on its bracket and plug it in. Its cord is longer than the grill's own, so lay the slack well away from the hood and every hot surface, as Wolf asks.
- Take the warming rack out or hang it in its storage position. Wolf does not want it in either cooking position while the spit turns.
- The rotisserie burner is infrared, with a dedicated igniter mounted alongside it on the rear panel; the hood stays closed while it runs.
Watch A motor that will not turn the spit once seated and plugged in is worth a call well before the day it is needed. Orchard Plateau Wolf Repair, (425) 920-9484

The motor, the spit and the load
- Wolf gives the rotisserie a maximum load of 25 lb (11 kg). Stay inside it.
- There are two spit positions: the low one for large loads, the high one for small. The motor socket lines up with the lower or upper notch on the spit saddles.
- Wolf's steps ask for the load centred on the spit and evenly balanced.
- Once the cook is over, lift the motor off and keep it somewhere sheltered, as Wolf asks, rather than leaving it on its bracket through the wet months.
Watch A motor that stalls or turns unevenly with a load inside the limit needs a look. Orchard Plateau Wolf Repair, (425) 920-9484

The sear burner's screen and tiles
- The sear burner is infrared, built with ceramic tiles, and Wolf keeps every liquid off it to protect them: no water, no cleaner.
- Clear the particles trapped in its protective screen from time to time, working dry.
- Lift the grate section over it away before that grate is scrubbed, and never set a briquette tray or the smoker box above it.
Fix Tiles that look cracked or broken are worth a look before that burner is used again. Orchard Plateau Wolf Repair, (425) 920-9484
Before you call
Only the rotisserie or sear burner fails
- If the main burners light from their igniters, power and gas are reaching the grill, so the outlet and the shut-off valve have already passed.
- The rotisserie burner's igniter, on the rear panel, serves no other burner, so it can fail alone. A sear burner that stays dark beside lit neighbours points at its own ignition or gas feed.
- During Wolf's cleaning burn-off the sear burner runs on HI but the rotisserie burner stays off, so a cold rotisserie burner then is correct.
- Anything behind a panel is service work.

Asked about this card
Why won't the rotisserie burner on my Wolf grill light?
It lights from an igniter of its own on the rear panel, separate from the main burners, so it can fail while they work. If the main burners light, power and gas are reaching the grill and the fault sits with that burner. Orchard Plateau Wolf Repair, (425) 920-9484, tracks it down on the $89 service call.
Can I clean the infrared sear burner with water or oven cleaner?
No. Wolf keeps all liquid away from the sear burner to protect its ceramic tiles; even the deep clean covers it in plastic wrap before oven cleaner touches the interior. Clear trapped particles from its protective screen dry, and take the grate above it off before that grate is scrubbed.
